Kuwait Becomes the First MENA Nation to Launch the Hydrogen Grand Prix Powered by a Landmark Partnership with ALSAYER Group

Kuwait has officially become the first country in the MENA region to host Horizon Educational’s Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) Program — a milestone made possible through a powerful collaboration between Kuwait University, Horizon Educational, and ALSAYER Group, one of the nation’s leading advocates for sustainability and youth development.

This launch marks a major step forward for clean energy education in the region, opening unprecedented opportunities for students to engage with hydrogen technologies, advanced engineering, and the rapidly evolving global energy ecosystem.

A Regional First — and a Shared Vision

The debut of H2GP PRO in Kuwait is the result of a shared vision: empowering young people with the skills, tools, and mindset to lead Kuwait to its 2030 stragety of 15%  clean-energy sources by 2030.

While Kuwait University provides an exceptional academic foundation for STEM learning, ALSAYER Group has been instrumental in bringing the program to life. What Is H2GP PRO?

H2GP PRO challenges high school and university students to design, engineer, and race 1:10 scale hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. Throughout the 3 year program, students:

• Generate their own hydrogen through professional-grade electrolysis
• Store it safely using metal hydride technology
• Assemble, customize, and optimize their vehicles
• Analyze and present real-world data
• Compete in a four-hour endurance race, with the chance to advance to the H2GP World Finals

It’s hands-on learning that bridges classrooms with future clean-tech industries.

To mark the program’s launch, Horizon Educational and ALSAYER Group joined senior leaders from Kuwait University and the Youth Public Authority for a high-level strategic meeting.

The discussion explored:

• Capacity-building opportunities
• Sustainability plans for Kuwait’s hydrogen education pipeline

This meeting reinforced a shared commitment: establishing Kuwait as a regional hub for hydrogen education, research, and innovation.

Transformational Learning for Kuwait’s Students

The first year of H2GP PRO in Kuwait was already a success. The program engaged:

• Nine high school teams in the Stock Category
• One university team in the Hybrid Category

Teachers and stakeholders received specialized training in both the technical and educational dimensions of the program, building a foundation for long-term growth.

Now, with a regional race planned for April 2026, the top teams will earn a chance to represent Kuwait at the H2GP World Finals in June 2026.
