ALSAYER Group, as a strategic partner committed to advancing education, innovation, and sustainability, announced the second phase of the Horizon Educational Hydrogen Vehicle Racing Championship on February 3rd, 2026, at Kuwait Universities College of Science. This initiative is organized by ASLAYER Group and Kuwait University’s College of Science in collaboration with Horizon Educational, marking the beginning of an exciting journey for student teams preparing to compete in the championship.
The program is part of ALSAYER Group’s CSR efforts, and an educational initiative led by Kuwait University, represented by the College of Science, in partnership with the private sector and state institutions. It is carried out in cooperation with the College of Engineering and Petroleum under the leadership of Dr. Omar Al-Ali, head of Kuwait University’s championship team, alongside the Public Authority for Youth.
The training sessions are designed to equip students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to participate in the championship. Students are introduced to clean energy concepts, hydrogen fuel cell technologies, engineering design, and teamwork strategies assured they are prepared to design, build, and race their hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Dean Haidar Behbehani emphasized that this program reflects the mission of the College of Science and the Department of Computer Science to bridge academic learning with real-world application. By empowering students with modern expertise, the program prepares a generation that is both aware of sustainable energy challenges and capable of competing in regional and international forums.
Mr. Mohammed Naser Al-Sayer, Executive Board Member and Chairman of the Sustainability Committee, expressed his pride in partnering with Kuwait University and Horizon Educational. He highlighted that the training sessions allow students to develop practical skills in engineering, innovation, design, and teamwork, which are skills that are essential for growth and future development.
Eng. Nehad AlHaj Ali, Group Manager of the Corporate Excellence Department at ALSAYER Group, noted that training students directly is a vital step toward success in the championship. By providing them with knowledge from Horizon Educational and opportunities to experiment with vehicle models, the program guarantees stronger performance. ALSAYER Group believes that supporting initiatives from start to finish helps students gain valuable skills in design thinking, engineering, programming, and development—skills that are central to the workplace and beyond.
Dr. Nora Al-Jeri explained that the student training program represents a crucial stage in the championship system. It ensures that students are ready to progress through the phases of design, construction, and testing, ultimately leading to active participation in the races. This enhances the quality of educational outcomes and fulfills the program’s objectives.
By guiding students through the processes of design, construction, and testing, the program strengthens educational outcomes and supports Kuwait University’s mission to connect academic learning with innovation. It also reflects ALSAYER Group’s commitment to sustainability and to preparing a new generation ready to compete on both regional and international stages.
The third stage of this journey will be a practice competition where students will immerse themselves into how the competition will feel like to help them prepare for the national championship in April 2026.
