Aiming for Double the Fuel Efficiency
Later in 1994, Akihiro Wada became Executive Vice President for Research and Development and Chief Executive for the G21 Project. Mr. Uchiyamada had originally aimed to increase fuel efficiency by one and half times, but Mr. Wada requested double that figure. This seemingly impossible target forced Mr. Uchiyamada and his team to look at a totally new kind of technology?the hybrid power system?which became a reality in 2 years
