ALSAYER Group Champions Water and Waste Sustainability Challenge During Ramadan

As part of its ongoing commitment to healthier and cleaner habits, ALSAYER Group’s Corporate Excellence department launched a sustainability challenge for employees during the holy month of Ramadan, continuing until the end of March. This initiative was designed to coincide with two important global observances: World Water Day on March 22 and the International Day of Zero Waste on March 30. Employees were encouraged to monitor their daily water usage and waste management practices, reflecting on how small changes in behavior can contribute to a more sustainable future.

The results of the challenge were collected through a survey, where employees recorded their efforts across a series of questions. Findings revealed that 63% of respondents reduced their average shower time, directly lowering water consumption. Meanwhile, 46% reported reusing water for plants or cleaning, demonstrating practical conservation habits. A remarkable 83% highlighted their use of reusable water bottles, reducing reliance on single-use plastics. On average, employees kept taps turned off for 2.5 minutes while brushing teeth, washing dishes, or performing ablution, showing mindfulness in everyday routines. Additionally, employees refilled their reusable mugs, cups, or bottles 3.7 times per day on average, reinforcing the shift toward sustainable hydration practices. When asked about their most successfully adopted habits, employees ranked water conservation efforts first, followed by eliminating single-use plastics, and finally recycling household waste.

These results underscore the proactive role ALSAYER Group employees are taking on shaping a cleaner and healthier environment. In a region where water scarcity is a pressing concern, such mindful practices are not only commendable but essential. Globally, reducing waste and conserving resources are critical steps toward mitigating environmental harm, and the Group’s initiative demonstrates how collective responsibility can drive meaningful change.

ALSAYER Group is proud of its employees for embracing this challenge with dedication both at work and at home. Their actions reflect a strong sense of responsibility toward their community and the environment. By adopting sustainable habits, they are contributing to a culture of awareness and accountability that extends beyond the workplace. This initiative serves as a reminder that even small, consistent changes like shorter showers, reusing water, or choosing reusable bottles can have a significant impact when practiced collectively. ALSAYER Group remains committed to encouraging such efforts, reinforcing the importance of sustainability as a shared value across the organization.
